Hi, aia!

When did you take the UPCAT? If you still have your "non-qualifier slip (where your UPG is indicated)" from the UP Office of Admissions, you could also submit that when applying at UPOU and there's a great chance of you getting exempted from taking the Undergraduate Assessment Test. However, you'll still be required to take the Distance Education Readiness Test. Check out my post on DE Readiness Test here.

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for all the guides and the must-know on UPOU, I'm currently considering on studying at the open U as well, I've already taken the UPCAT before, at the main campus didn't make it to the quota though, so if ever i'm gonna have the courage to push through this, i would like to know the admission exams (well, not the contents) is it easy? or is it as thorough as the UPCAT? I'm sort of nervous and lacking the confidence to push through, cause it's still UP, just the weight of the name is pushing my ego further down.

thanks ü

Hello Christian,

The point of this post is that choosing a university for college is a tough decision to make. You have to consider a lot of things before you enroll in a certain university (ie programs offered, tuition fee, parent's decision, etc.). I entered UPOU not because I want to use it as a "backdoor" to enter other UP campus. If I want to do that, I could have just enrolled myself at UP Mindanao or UP Los Baños. Since you're a UPOU student too, I am sure you know that life in UPOU isn't easy. You may enter a program that "easy" (as you say) but surviving in the program you chose is another thing.

Just so you know :)

Hi schoolmate, I would like to comment on the title of this entry...Schools I Considered Before I settled with UPOU.
Its likely to give your readers a wrong notion that the only reason why people get into upou is bec its a safety net if one cannot get a regular UP education and its easier to get into the programs...
La lang, peace out!
